What is WingTsun Kung Fu?

WingTsun, pronounced "wing chun" is a soft form of Chinese Kung Fu. The intent is to use our opponents force against themselves. WingTsun skills are built on the student's present abilities. Strength and being "in shape" are not prerequisites for training. WingTsun teaches a readiness "to listen" to one's body, to know one's strengths, and to use them rigorously when required. The power of WingTsun is to sharpen one's perception in a well coordinated manner.

WingTsun is the most effective system of self defense in the world.

Nearly three-quarters of the elite Special Forces in Europe as well as law enforcement personnel in more than 64 countries train in WingTsun . In the United States, WingTsun has even been studied be the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team.

Unlike many modern-day martial arts which are merely collections of techniques -- WingTsun is a complete system which teaches not only the most effective movements, but trains the underlying physiology and reflexes that make them work.

WingTsun teaches an aggressive defense in which defense and attack are merged into one fluid motion.

By harnessing the power of relaxation, WingTsun students learn to deflect rather than block -- borrowing the opponent's strength and turning it against them.

When students learn WingTsun, they develop a fresh, new awareness of their body and a heightened sense of confidence in all situations. This confidence, born of knowing one's capabilities, is acquired through intensive, regular, professional instruction.

Instructors at Fiedler's Mixed Martial Arts promote positive forms of behavior and teach martial arts purely for self defense and health purposes. The art of WingTsun can be intense and challenging. The ability to defend one's self or become physically fit is only acquired through focused, regular practice.

WingTsun Kung Fu is unique from other martial arts because all wasted movements have been eliminated. This system is simple and effective in a stressful self defense situation. Come see the difference!
The Origin of WingTsun

WingTsun is an ancient Chinese system of self defense. It was developed over 250 years ago by women named Ng Mui after observing a fight between a fox and a crane. She named the art after her first student, the girl "WingTsun" and the name means "beautiful springtime" or "eternal spring". The WingTsun system was designed to defeat a stronger opponent with true skill rather then brute force or strength. Thus a practical and effective, yet quickly learnable self defense system was developed.

Professor Leung Ting is founder of the WingTsun system and world-wide grandmaster of the International WingTsun Association.

Professor Leung started training Wing Tsun at the young age of 13. By the age of 20, he was accepted by Great Grandmaster Yip Man (Bruce Lee's teacher) as his "Closed Door Student".

Since his 20's the Great Grand Master Leung Ting has devoted his life to developing his WingTsun kung fu system. The International WingTsun Association he founded has expanded into a worldwide martial-art organization with branches located in over 63 countries.

The IWTA is regarded as the largest professional kung fu organization in the world.

WingTsun Classes

WingTsun students are taught in groups, yet guided individually. The individual’s strengths are improved and consolidated.

Our WT classes include training of forms and practical application of WingTsun whether at kick, punch, knee, elbow, or grappling ranges. Students are taught proper footwork and bag training. We regularly review self defense and how to assess and act properly in a situation for the most positive outcome for those involved.

Chi Sau or “sticky hands” is taught to be able to sense the opponent’s intentions and take control of their actions, as well as improve our sparring.

Students in time will become more flexible, aware, confident, and physically fit.
